The Queen's Guards – Irish, Coldstream, Scots, Welsh, Grenadier – worn the tall black bearskin hats, permanent reminder about the victory at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Three armies were involved in the battle of Waterloo: a French army under the command of Napoleon Bonaparte;  an Anglo-led Allied army under the command of the Duke of Wellingtonand a Prussian army under the command of Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, Prince of Wahlstatt. Each one the British Royal Guard’s regiment has a special coloured feather plume in their bearskin.
