The Battle of Grunwald, First Battle of Tannenberg or Battle of Žalgiris was fought on 15 July 1410 during the Polish–Lithuanian–Teutonic War. The alliance of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, led respectively by King Władysław II Jagiełło (Jogaila) and Grand Duke Vytautas, decisively defeated the German–Prussian Teutonic Knights, led by Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen.

Dei Gratia Rex Lettowiae, a Latin title meaning By the Grace of God, King of Lithuania. It is thought that on the 6th of July, 1253 bishop of Kulm Henrik crowned Mindaugas and his wife Morta. The Livonian Rhymed Chronicle devoted 125 poetry lines to coronation of Mindaugas and Morta, but failed to mention the exact date and location. Until now, the precise crowning place and date are unknown.

The Columns of Gediminas or Pillars of Gediminas (Lithuanian: Gediminaičių stulpai (Gediminids' Pillars); Belarusian: Калюмны (Columns)) are one of the earliest symbols of Lithuania and its historical coats of arms.
