The Battle of Grunwald, First Battle of Tannenberg or Battle of Žalgiris was fought on 15 July 1410 during the Polish–Lithuanian–Teutonic War. The alliance of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, led respectively by King Władysław II Jagiełło (Jogaila) and Grand Duke Vytautas, decisively defeated the German–Prussian Teutonic Knights, led by Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen.

The Yeomen Warders, popularly known as the Beefeaters, are ceremonial guardians of the Tower of London. They were originally formed in 1485 by Henry VII, the first monarch of the Tudor dynasty. Zawisza Czarny (or Zawisza the Black) (1370–1428) was a Polish knight and nobleman who served as a commander and diplomat under Polish king Władysław II Jagiełło and Hungarian-Bohemian king Sigismund of Luxembourg. During his life, he was regarded as a model of knightly virtues and was renowned for winning multiple tournaments. His nickname is due to his black hair and his custom-made, black armor, which is kept at the Jasna Góra Monastery.
