VIKINGS

Nearly 500 years before Christopher Columbus crossed the blue ocean, a Norse Viking by the name of Leif Eriksson landed on the North America continent. Eriksson is believed to be the first European to have landed on and established a settlement in North America around 1000 CE. Researchers aren’t sure exactly where Leif landed, but they believe it might have been at Labrador or Newfoundland, in Canada. Leif explored a region he called Vinland. Today, we still ask ourselves, “Who really discovered America?”
